Pointman Oy (hereinafter Pointman) is committed to protecting the privacy of its customers and we offer you the opportunity to influence the processing of your information.

With the privacy statement we inform our customers about the processing of their personal data.

The customer must accept the terms of the privacy statement in order to use Pointman’s services.

The information we collect can be divided into user-supplied information that is observed about the use of online services and that is derived through analytics.

We use information:

What information can be collected about me?

  • Information provided by the user or personally identifiable 
    • Identification information, such as name
      • Personal identification number to identify the customer when concluding a credit agreement
      • Passport information or similar information required by Customs when ordering product or services tac-free from outside Finland
    • Contact information, such as address, email address and phone number
  • Information observed and analytically derived from the use of the services
    • Purchase history. e.g. ordered products and their price information
    • Delivery information, such as the selected delivery method and delivery address

The main source of information is the user himself, in addition to which we may obtain additional information from our partners, such as a credit service provider.

What my personal data is used for?

The information will be processed based on the customer relationship between the customer and Pointman, the use of the website or the customer’s separate express consent.

How is my personal data stored and protected?

All personal data is protected against unauthorized access and accidental or unlawful destruction, alteration, disclosure, transfer or other unlawful processing.

Pointman stores customer data in Finland. The technical and process security of data centers and trade systems is at a very high level. Servers are protected against hacking and denial of service attacks.

In processing of personal data and in the planning of the processing, we follow good data protection practices, e.g. data consolidation, minimization and anonymization where possible. The processing of personal data has taken into account the requirements of the EU Data Protection Regulation applicable from 25 May 2018.

All access to personal data is controlled in accordance with good practice.

Who processes my personal data?

Customer information is only accessible to Pointman’s own employees and our staff is trained to use the information safely and ethically.

We use trusted contractors to transfer information to a third party. Agreements with all partners have taken into account the requirement of the EU Data Protection Regulation and other legislation.

How long will my data be kept?

We will only retain your personal data for the time necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this leaflet. In addtion, some information may be retained longer to the extent necessary to fulfill statutory obligations, such as accounting and consumer trade responsibilities and to demonstrate their proper implementation.

As the customer’s request, personal data about him may be deleted or anonymized form the company’s systems and the information will no longer be used for the purposes listed in the description.

For some information, the legislation imposes obligations on the longer-term storage of information, e.g. for the following purposes:

  • The Accounting Act defines longer retention periods for information, regardless of whether the material contains personal data or not
  • System log information is collected and stores as required by the law to enable us to provide legal and secure online commerce to our customers
  • Adequate backups of trade databases and systems to secure data, correct errors and ensure security and continuity

What rights do I have?

As a customer you have right to:

  • Get access to personal data about you, including the right to receive a copy of personal data about you
  • Request the correction or deletion of personal information about yourself
  • Under certain conditions, request a restriction on processing or object to the processing of personal data

In addition, if processing is based on separate consent, you have right to withdraw your consent at any time. Please note that this does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out before the withdrawal on consent.

You can request the exercise of your rights by contacting our customer service. The request must be sufficiently identified for our customer service to verify your identity. If, in any event, we are unable to comply with your request in any way, such as deleting all information that we have a legal obligation (such as credit information) or right to retain, w will notify you.

If you find that the processing is deficient or illegal, you have the right to complain to the data protection authority.

How can I influence the use of my data?

Pointman is committed to providing its customers with opportunities to influence the collection and use of their information.

Note! In some cases, not all information may be deleted and legislation may require the retention of some customer related information.

Will my personal data be disclosed to third parties ?

We provide some necessary information to third parties to ensure delivery and for marketing purposes. Your information will also be passed on to the lender in connection with the credit decision.

We use customer data with third parties for analysis and personalization purposes. We may disclose purchasing behavior and browsing information to partners so that we can provide you with products and offers that interest yo. Information used for analysis and personalization purposes is anonymized whenever possible. Only we can associate the pseudonymized information used with your name.

If necessary, we also provide information at the request of the authorities, we always inform the customer about requests for information, if this is permitted by law.

Does the website use cookies and what they are?

Pointman uses cookies and other similar technologies, such as the browser’s local storage. Cookies are small text files between the terminal’s browser and the server. We use cookies to identify the customer, maintain the login and to the functions  of the shopping cart. For these functions, the use of cookies and the acceptance of their use is mandatory. Cookies set by the server will remain in the browser for one (1) month, unless they are deleted from the browser settings. Visiting the site resets the cookies if the browser allows it. The browser’s local warehouse is used, for example, for product delivery time estimates.

Cookies are also used to personalize the user experience. With customer-enabled personalization, we can offer more customer-centric products and better targeted advertising. For the personalization of the customer’s browser is set to a third party (RichRelevance) cookie. Data sent to RichRelevance, such as visits to product pages and search history, has been anonymised and it is not possible to find out the identity of the third party client.

We also take advantage of other technologies, such as pixel tags (including Google Analytics) and tracking. These technologies help us understand better our customers’ behavior and tell us which products interest our customers and which functions and services are most useful to our customers.

The information used for the analysis is anonymized whenever possible. Otherwise, we treat the information as personal insofar as the identifier contains customer targeting information, such as IP address. Tags that are associated in some way are also treated as personal data.

Can this privacy statement be changed?

Due to the development of the services and changes in legislation, we reserve the right to change the privacy statement. Significant changes to the privacy statement will be notified to registered customers when the terms are updated.

This privacy statement supersedes the previous registry statement.
